The Preschool assistant teacher is responsible for planning, leading and implementing recreational and creative experiences for young children in a group setting. The incumbent provides high quality recreational experiences for school aged children that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 830 am to 1pm, end of August till End of May.
Organize and lead a variety of activities appropriate for preschool age children.
Ensure that the site is kept clean and organized.
Must keep accurate head counts of the group at all times.
Assist children in daily needs including but not limited to washing hands, using the restroom, picking up belongings, assist with snacks and packing or unpacking of belongings.
Insure parents/guardians comply with the drop off and pick up procedures.
Complete incident reports when needed.
Backing up the Teacher in day to day operations. Occasionally stepping in to lead class if teacher is out sick
Ability to lead, plan, organize and implement program activities.
Previous experience working with children
Teaching certification or Years of experience working in a preschool or day care setting
Lead and participate in recreation activities which may include running, throwing and kicking.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs. in program equipment, tables, etc.
Be able to sit on the floor, carry a child if need.
