Job Description:

YMCA of Columbia is seeking seasonal staff to provide components of the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program (SFP). Strengthening Families Program is designed to reduce family stress, improve communication and enhance family functioning. The SFP consists of 14 weekly family dinners and workshops for 10-12 families per cycle.

These positions are seasonal, and staff will only work for during the training/planning phase and during each 14-week cycle of SFP. Specific time commitments may include:
• Participate in planning meetings as needed prior to each SFP implementation cycle
• Serve on a SFP team for approximately four hours one evening per week for 14 consecutive weeks or four hours two evenings per week for 7 consecutive weeks during the summer.
• Exact dates are TBD. The program will be held at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

The SFP Parent Group Leaders will lead an evidence-based curriculum (provided) with a group of parents representing 10-12 diverse families. Team Leaders must be familiar with group dynamics and must be willing to honor parents’ belief systems regardless of their own personal beliefs.

Required Qualifications:

Group leaders must be certified SFP facilitators and should be organized, approachable, empowering, and genuine. Experience teaching a structured curriculum is a plus.
