Job Description:

Assists in providing an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for children enrolled in the YMCA Camp program. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Assists in implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
2. Assists in preparing and serving snacks.
3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
4. Prepares materials, activities, and environments as necessary.
5. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, drop-off/pick procedures, supervision, incident reports, accurate head counts, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
7. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.

Required Qualifications:

1. Ability to work with others in a team environment.
2. At least 16 years of age.
3. CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention training before start of 1st shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting.
2. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc…
3. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Physical Demands:

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
