The Fitness Attendant is in charge of greeting members, cleaning of equipment and facility, and assisting members in their YMCA experience.

 Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Educates members on the equipment in the facility, helping them achieve their fitness goals, giving them good principles and promoting proper form on equipment. 2. Shows enthusiasm and professionalism in working with members. Works on member retention by providing members with exercise options and helping them redefine their program to keep them interested. 3. Greets members as they walk into the fitness center. 4. Maintains a safe and clean environment by wiping down equipment and keeping the fitness area presentable. 5. Perform basic preventative maintenance checks on fitness equipment. 6. Mitigates risk by enforcing rules and regulations for safe use of the facility. 7. Participates in branch recruitment for facility participants or in program promotion events. 8. All other duties as requested by supervisor.

 Required Qualifications: 

Demonstrated customer service and communication skills. – Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations. – Certifications required within 90 days of employment: CPR, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Blood Born Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, My Fit Training, Listen First/Coaching Training. You will be compensated for the time taken to complete required trainings. – Must be able to demonstrate fitness/exercise knowledge and skills. – Must have thorough understanding of behavior change methodology. – Ability to build strong relationships with individuals and have empathy for health seekers. – Must be computer savvy and detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications: 

CPR, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Child Abuse Prevention, and Bloodborne Pathogens certified

Physical Demands: 

Must be able to perform all physical requirements for the position including but not limited to: -walking -standing for long periods of time -bending – reaching – lifting up to 50lbs at a time

Pay Rate: $10 an hour
