Assistant swim coach for age group swimmers (primarily 12 years and younger). We are hiring coaches for Jeep Rogers YMCA branch. These positions are available for those interested in coaching during the school year, summer season, and/or year-round.

 Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1.  Upholds the YMCA Mission and demonstrates behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
2.  Ensures high quality activities through innovative program development. Sets the standards for exceptional member service.
3.  Assures compliance with state, local, and YMCA guidelines.
4.  Takes daily practice attendance for assigned swim groups.
5.  Performs other duties as assigned.
6.  Maintains coaching certifications and YMCA requirements.

Required Qualifications:

1. Must enjoy working with swimmers age 5-12 years. 2. Able to teach proper stroke technique is the primary focus. 3. Provide positive motivation. 4. Guide swimmers in achieving their personal swim goals. 5. May design (depending on experience) or assist in designing and implementing daily and seasonal plans, in consultation with the head coach. 6. Coach at selected weekend meets. 7. Possibly assist in coaching middle and high school level swimmers. 8. Maintain attendance lists, attend staff meeting.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Previous coaching experience and/or swim lesson instruction. 2. Competitive swimming background preferred, but not mandatory. 3. Strong technique background. 4. Able to take direction from the Head Coach, yet have the ability to work independently. 5. Able to work with fellow coaches. 6. Must be enthusiastic, positive and energetic about the sport of swimming and teaching swimmers. 7. If not already possess, must attain both USA Swimming & YMCA Swimming Certifications & Membership. This includes CPR, First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Y Principles. Lifeguard Certification a plus, but not mandated.

Physical Demands: 

1. Able to easily walk back and forth along pool deck for 1 or more hours. 2. Lifting light weights (10 lbs. and less). 3. Able to work in a warm indoor pool environment for 1 or more hours.

 

Pay Rate: $10-11/per hour, depending on experience, number of hours available, YMCA Membership may also be included.

Work Days and Times: Mon-Wed-Fri (4:15-5:45 pm) and Tue-Thu (4:30-5:45). Late afternoon/early evenings. Options to work 2-5 days per week, for 1-3 hours per day, depending on your schedule. Experienced coaches may have possibility to work with our older group(s) on select days (5:30-7:30 pm).
