ABOUT
Giselle Johnson is a native of Ridgeway, South Carolina. After receiving her degree from the University of South Carolina in Communications, Giselle moved to Jacksonville, FL where she served as a City Year member and Extended Learning Coordinator for ten months. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she graduated with a Masters in Social Work in 2020.

Shortly after graduating Giselle began working as the Program Director for Youth Departments at the YMCA of Roxbury in the greater Boston area.  She was responsible for running the virtual learning program, as well as the summer camp and after school sites for over 190 children.

“I have a passion for working with youth,” explains Giselle. “I grew up doing a lot of extracurricular activities and had mentors who supported me. My goal is to help the younger generation define what their potential is and help build upon that.”

Giselle is happy to be back in South Carolina where the weather is warmer and is excited to work with the Lake Carolina/Jeep Rogers community.  “I believe it takes a village, faith, trust, and communication to empower the next generation. I am excited to be a part of the team and look forward to meeting my new YMCA community!”

We are extremely happy to have Giselle with us and we know she will be an incredible asset to our Youth Development Team here at the YMCA of Columbia.

Please feel free to contact Giselle at gisellejohnson@columbiaymca.org and help us welcome her back to South Carolina!
