This position provides direct supervision to members and non-members in the gym, field, and facility and acts a liaison between departments. Under the supervision of the Sports Director, the Sports Supervisor will assist in the implementation of all sport activities including: basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball, clinics, camps, and tournaments. This person will help maintain positive attitudes, opinions and judgments by YMCA members, participants and staff. This person must be able to work with people and make decisions and judgments clearly and quickly.

 Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Maintains order and is person “in charge” in the gym/ field. 2. Conducts field setup and tear down for practices and games (Line fields, set goal, provide age appropriate equipment). 3. Ensure practices and games start and finish on time to maintain schedule integrity. 4. Ensure referees are consistent and up to date on rules for individual sports. 5. Understands, can articulate and reinforce all rules for each sports league with coaches, officials, and parents. 6. Ability to referee sports including: basketball, flag football, soccer, and volleyball. 7. Provide leadership to the daily operation of summer sports camps. 8. Checks membership / guest status and, in a customer friendly manner, removes anyone that is not a member or guest. 9. Maintains a “family appropriate” atmosphere – no cursing, fighting, or inappropriate behavior – and handles any of those situations as they arise. 10. Assumes leadership during any incidents, injuries or emergencies and fills out incident reports as needed. 11. Engages with members and makes certain they feel safe and welcome at all times. 12. Periodically assists other departments as needed (i.e. tours, bathroom checks, cleaning, etc.) 13. Ensures YMCA fields and gym are left clean and equipment is stored properly at the end of each shift. 14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications: 

1. Strong public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

2. Demonstrated leadership and high level of responsibility.

3. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications: 

1. Current CPR / First Aid / AED certifications, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

2. Previous experience with multiple sports a plus.

3. Certifications for sports officiating a plus

4. Experience with Playerspace software a plus

Pay Rate: $11.00
