The Pre-School teacher is responsible for planning, leading and implementing recreational, educational and creative experiences for young children in a group setting. The preschool teacher provides high quality recreational experiences for school aged children that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Organizes, plans and leads a variety of indoor and outdoor activities appropriate for pre-school age children. – Ensures the site is kept clean and organized. – Must keep accurate head counts of the group at all times. – Assist children in daily needs including but not limited to washing hands, using the restroom, picking up belongings, assist with snacks and packing or unpacking of belongings. – Ensure parents/guardians comply with the drop off and pick up procedures. – Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, supervision, incident reports, child abuse prevention and emergencies. – Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills. – Attends staff meeting and trainings – Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to lead, plan, organize and implement program activities. – Ability to work with others in a team environment -Previous experience working with pre-school aged children. -At least 21 years of age. -Praesidium training prior to start of 1st shift. CPR within 60 days – Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. – Participate in Swimming activities with campers daily; – Must be able to attend mandatory summer camp training May 22-June 26, 2023; 9am-1pm.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years child care or related experience and relevant experience in supervision and administration of youth programs.
Physical Demands:
May be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds in the form of program equipment or a small child. May be required to be outside for long periods of time. Must possess good analytical, auditory, verbal, and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone or in person. Lead and participate in recreation activities which may include running, throwing and kicking. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. in program equipment, tables, etc. Swimming Daily with campers,
Pay Rate: $10-11.50 /hour
Work dates and times: Training: May 22-May 26 2023; 9am-1pm Shifts Monday-Friday June 5-August 11 between 8:30-12:30pm
