ANNOUNCEMENT – POOL RENOVATIONS

The Orangeburg County YMCA Natatorium will undergo extensive renovations starting Dec. 1, 2019 with a tentative completion date of Jan. 31, 2020.  The pool will close Friday, Nov. 29 following the morning water aerobics course.

We sincerely apologies for the inconvenience and thank you in advance for your patience. The Y is working to provide an alternate Orangeburg area swim site as well as comparable out-of-water course offerings during the renovation period. We hope to have more information for you soon.

Please check your email, our app and our Facebook page for updates during the renovations.

We are excited about these upgrades and we hope you are as well. These long-awaited renovations will undoubtably enhance the member experience for all Orangeburg County Y members.

Aquatics

swim-mom-boy-huggingThe YMCA has long been America’s favorite swimming instructor. Whether just learning how to swim,  improving strokes or competitive swim, Y members are in safe hands with our certified swimming instructors and lifeguards.

Swimming is a life skill as well as great exercise and a challenging sport. The aquatics programs at the Y are about more than just the techniques and skills; they are about building friendships, developing self-esteem and creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime.

Note: Swimmers under 48″ are required to wear a lifejacket at all times. In order to access the deep end of the pool, swimmers must pass a swim test. The swim test consists of swimming 25 yards from the shallow end to the deep end without stopping, treading water for 1 minute and swimming back to the shallow end without stopping. Swimmers that pass the swim test will receive a wristband.

Please use the search feature below to find swim lessons for babies, youth and adults, private swim lessons, lifeguard classes and more!

Contact Emmie Treadaway with any questions on our Aquatics programs.

Swim Lessons

The purpose of the Y Swim Lessons Program is to develop competency in swimming along with confidence and endurance.  The goals of the program are to teach personal safety, personal growth and stroke development in a values-based environment.  Your child will be advanced to the next level only when he or she proficiently and safely performs the skills within his or her level. We teach individually to each child to advance their skills. We expect each child to learn and progress at his or her own rate.
