Congratulations on joining the Y and taking the first step to a healthier lifestyle!
Your membership is active and you can start using the Y immediately. If you purchased a community-wide membership, you have access to all six YMCA of Columbia locations!
On your first visit to the Y, please stop by the member services desk and let the staff know you joined online. At that time, please present a valid photo ID. We will take your photo and issue your membership ID, which will allow you to access the Y.
All individuals over 18 years of age must provide a valid photo ID prior to gaining access to the Y. Accepted valid IDs include a driver’s license, state-issues ID card, or student ID with legal name.
Staff will then guide you on a tour of the facility and provide you with additional information about your membership privileges. If you joined under a family membership, additional family members will need to stop by the member services desk on their first visit to have their photo taken, regardless of age, and membership IDs will be issued at that time.

Know Before You Go – What can my kids do at the Y?
Each of our six facilities have different Youth in Facility policies. Please be sure to take a look before you drop your children off at the Y.
Cancel your membership at any time.
Of course we never want to see you go, but if you need to cancel your YMCA membership, you can do so at any time. The Y requires a written notification to be received by the 25th of the month prior to the month of intended cancellation in order for dues for the following month to not be deemed payable.
You can cancel in the following ways:
- Visit any YMCA of Columbia location to complete a Cancellation Form in person.
- Mail a letter of cancellation to your home YMCA branch requesting termination.
- Email the membership director of your home branch requesting termination.
- If you send a cancellation request via mail, email, or fax, you are responsible for confirming the Y’s receipt of the cancellation and when the cancellation should occur.
