Under the general supervision of the Sports Coordinator, in cooperation with other YMCA staff, and consistent with the Y Mission, the Sports Official is responsible for enforcement of official rules and philosophy during all scheduled games.

 Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Develops, implements, and manages strategies to promote Health Enhancement programs and Membership growth for the YMCA.
2. Hires, trains, supervises, and supports staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
3. Upholds the YMCA Mission and demonstrates behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
4. Ensures high quality activities through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff. Sets the standards for exceptional member service.
5. Develops, manages, and controls department budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
6. Assists in the marketing and distribution of membership and program information. Coordinates and manages member communications via emails, website, social media, in-branch communications, member inquiries, etc.
7. Maintains equipment and facilities. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required. Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs.
8. Leads the branch’s Race Series events.
9. Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and committees as assigned.
10. Assures compliance with state, local, and YMCA guidelines.
11. Provides data and reports as required.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
13. Maintains annual training requirements.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum age of 16. 2. Certifications within 30 days: a. CPR, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen b. Bloodborne Pathogens c. Child Abuse Prevention 3. Previous experience as a referee/official preferred. 4. Knowledge and understanding of the rules of the sport. 5. Desire and ability to work with people of all ages. 6. Demonstrated responsibility and dependability. 7. Must exhibit patience, sensitivity and understanding.

Physical Demands:

-Must be willing to regularly work flexible hours, weekends and holidays. -May be required to sit, stand or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time. -May be required to work outdoors for extended periods of time. May be exposed to extreme outdoor weather conditions and temperatures. -Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and members’ well-being. -Must possess auditory, verbal and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person. -May be required to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. in various forms. -Must exhibit patience and understanding. -Must be capable of receiving and following detailed instructions. -Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment.

Pay Rate: $20 a game

Work days and times: Saturdays 9am-4pm
