The YMCA of Columbia is launching its annual campaign today in hopes of raising $400,000 to ensure that everyone in the Midlands has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
“Every day, the YMCA of Columbia gives our community the support it needs to learn, grow and thrive,” said Wendy Broderick, Chief Development Officer. “But the Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”
Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school, families to reconnect and grow together, and adults to have access to education and training to reach their full potential.
“The YMCA of Columbia works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, chronic diseases and child hunger,” said Jerri Spurrier, 2016 Annual Campaign Chair. “That’s why I’m so excited to be involved—every day our community faces new challenges that create a greater need for the work the Y does and they can’t do it alone.”
