Save the date for Saturday, April 15. If you’re planning to participate in the annual Y Run in mid-April, now is a good time to start training—experts typically recommend at least two months of training for races in the 5-10K distance range. That means that to run on April 15, you should be training by February 15 (if not before). You can train to walk or run the race, depending on your personal fitness goals. Choose from race options including:

  • One mile for kids and families
  • 5K, which is 3.1 miles
  • 10K, which is 6.2 miles

If you’re ready to start training, check out these running tips from a Y Personal Trainer, including how to find the right gear for winter training runs. In addition to the amazing feeling of finishing a race—whether it’s your first race or a personal best—there will all kinds of family-friendly activities to enjoy after the Y Run. Past activities have included obstacle courses, soccer clinics, chair massages and selfie booths. See what you can expect at the Y Run with highlights from the 2016 event.
