Building Stronger Communities Through Partnerships and Shared Purpose
Orangeburg County YMCA
At the Orangeburg County YMCA, we believe our impact reaches far beyond our walls—and that’s possible thanks to the strong and growing partnerships we’ve built across the community. From schools and ministries to camps and childcare centers, our Y is proud to serve as a hub for connection, learning, and wellness.
One of our most impactful ongoing collaborations is with the High School for Health Professionals (HSHP). Throughout the school year, Warrior Scholars from HSHP participate in a unique program designed to enhance water safety skills, improve swim ability, and even work toward lifeguard certification. This initiative not only teaches lifesaving skills but also opens the door to future employment opportunities—some students have already gone on to work at our water park following successful completion of the program and meeting hiring criteria. In addition, HSHP is able to utilize our basketball gym space during the school year, further reinforcing our commitment to supporting student growth in and out of the classroom.
As we move through the summer, we’re excited to continue our mission of service by welcoming a variety of groups to our indoor pool, gym, and water parks. These visits are more than just field trips—they’re opportunities for fun, enrichment, and meaningful experiences that support youth development and community engagement. We’re honored to host:
- The City of Orangeburg’s Mentoring Matters Camp
- WhyNotYoungLives
- Sugar and Spice Daycare
- Jeep Rogers Family YMCA and Northwest Family YMCA summer campers
- Distinctive Learning Center
- Stand for Christ Ministry
- Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office Summer Camp
- STEAM Day
Each group we host adds a layer of richness to our shared community story. Whether it’s through a splash in the water park, a basketball game in the gym, or structured activities that promote safety and skills, these moments reflect what the YMCA is all about: belonging, support, and partnership.
We’re grateful for the relationships we’ve built—and continue to build—with local schools, businesses, organizations, and churches. These partnerships are not just important to the YMCA; they are vital to the health and growth of Orangeburg County as a whole. Together, we’re creating more opportunities for youth, strengthening connections, and investing in a brighter future for everyone.
To all of our partners: thank you. We look forward to many more seasons of learning, laughter, and community.
