[COLUMBIA, S.C. – January 7, 2021] – The YMCA of Columbia has created the Wendy Broderick Youth Memorial Fund in honor of Wendy Broderick, who passed away earlier this week after battling significant health challenges.

Broderick was an 18-year veteran of the YMCA of Columbia having most recently served as the Chief Development Officer in 2019. During her time with the Y, she made a significant impact.  Her heart for philanthropy and leadership increased annual giving donations tenfold and she played an instrumental role in launching both the Jeep Rogers and Downtown Branch.

“Her quick smile and infectious nature made her a favorite among our members, employees, and association board,” said CEO Bill Price.  “She will be sorely missed, but certainly not forgotten.”

The Wendy Broderick Youth Memorial Fund will help serve underprivileged youth in the Columbia area. Having spent her career raising awareness for the youth of our communities, Wendy had a passion for our future generation.  From alleviating the threat of food insecurity, providing a safe place for children to thrive after school, helping prevent learning loss through summer enrichment programs, equipping children with the skillsets they need to be safe around water, and providing access to team building through the Y’s sports programs.

Each dollar given to the Wendy Broderick Youth Memorial Fund will ensure that her passion continues to be activated in the lives of those we serve.  Donations to the fund can be made at www.columbiaymca.org/WBYMF.
