The YMCA of Columbia recognized Bill Price with the 2016 Kenneth Richey Volunteer of the Year Award at the Y’s annual Breakfast of Champions donor appreciation event on August 4, 2016.

Price has been a member of the Y for 36 years and currently serves as President of the YMCA of Columbia Board of Directors and Chief Volunteer Officer. He has served on the Board of Directors for 13 years. He was instrumental in the YMCA of Columbia’s partnership with Orangeburg County that led to the state-of-the-art Orangeburg County YMCA facility and the expansion of the Y’s mission to underserved communities in that area. He is a strong advocate for the Y, raising funds to supports both annual fundraising and capital campaign efforts.

In the past three months as Board President and Chief Volunteer Officer, the YMCA of Columbia has opened a new Downtown YMCA, moved out of a 105-year old building on Sumter Street, and entered and completed a search for the YMCA of Columbia’s new Chief Executive Officer, Kurt Stringfellow.

The Volunteer of the Year Award is named for Kenneth Richey, a lifetime YMCA member who served as Board President for 14 years and Interim CEO of the YMCA of Columbia. Richey was the first recipient of the award, which was then named after him in appreciation of his incredible service record with the Y.
