Race Day: beginning at 4 p.m. at the race start at Lake Carolina town center

Every participant must be registered and every individual or team/group must pick up a packet containing a t-shirt and other important race information. You must register by November 26 to be guaranteed a race shirt.

Proceeds benefit the Y’s Annual Campaign which ensures everyone has access to YMCA programs and services through scholarships and financial assistance. This race is held in memory of Mr. Jeep Rogers.

Wee Wonders Preschool Program

Wee Wonders Preschool Program

Ages: 2 – 5 years

We carefully design every activity with our Wee Wonders Preschool Program to expand their imaginations and encourage lifelong, positive values. We offer half-day programs from the Y-Preschool Curriculum, fostering the development of the whole child and include activities that are well balanced with recreational, educational, character development and enrichment activities. Program runs with the Richland Two School District Calendar including all Holiday and In-service Days. You will be asked to provide snack for the class at least once a month (you will receive a calendar with the dates).

Preschool 8:45 a.m. – 12: 45 p.m.

Example of a daily schedule: 
8:45-9: Drop-off/ free time
9-9:30: Circle time
9:30-10:15: Lesson plan time, worksheets, etc.
10:15-10:30: Bathroom break
10:30-11:15: Hands-on activities
11:15-11:45: Snack time
11:45- 12: Bathroom break
12-12:45: Unstructured play time (playground or class room stations)    

Doodle Bugs

This program focuses on small motor skills, independent play and shapes, colors, and letters. Twice a month they will attend a kids exercise class to help improve their motor skills.

Age: 2 years old (must be 2 by September 1)

Days: Two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Members: $110 /month
Non-members: $160 / month  

Busy Bees

This program focuses on further developing small motor skills, social skills and delving further into shapes, colors, and letters. Twice a month they will attend a kids’ exercise class to help improve their motor skills and they will also go swimming once or twice a month.

Age: 3 years old (must be 3 by September 1)

Days: Three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Members: $165 / month
Non-members: $205 / month

Book Worms

Age: 4 years old (must be 4 by September 1)

This program focuses on socialization, Kindergarten readiness, independent letter recognition, popcorn (sight) words, counting, and everything they will need to be ready for Kindergarten. Twice a month they will attend a kids exercise class to help improve their motor skills, as well as go swimming twice a month.

Days: Monday through Friday

Members: $235 / month
Non-members: $280 / month

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free, 12-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors.

This program fulfills the important need of supporting cancer survivors in our community. They will work with Y staff trained in supportive cancer care to safely achieve their goals such as building strength; increasing flexibility and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. By focusing on the whole person and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is helping people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.

This program is free to participants and is funded by generous donors to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign.

It’s Game Time

More Soccer. More Fun. More Value. The South Carolina United FC YMCA Recreational Youth Soccer League serves nearly 5,000 Midlands youth who compete at six different venues throughout greater Columbia. Soccer encourages team play and individual skill development while having fun. Available for girls and boy, ages 4-18. Each team is guaranteed 7 out of 8 scheduled League Matches, weather permitting.

SEASON: practice begins September 21, games played September 26-November 21, 2015

Registration will go through August 31.

If you are new to our club, please realize that once you have purchased the kit for $25 during the online registration process, your child will wear this same uniform kit for the Fall 2014, Spring 2015, Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 seasons.  Please take the potential growth of your child over the next 30 months into account when placing your child’s uniform order.

YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps that will improve their overall health and well-being. Research by the National Institutes of Health has shown that programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can reduce the number of new cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%, and 71% in adults over the age of 60.

The YMCA of Columbia is the first YMCA in South Carolina to offer this program.

Performance Training for Kids

Our Youth Sports Performance curriculum is a 6-class program designed to teach proper running technique, coordination, agility and strength as a foundation to improving overall performance for young athletes. The program also teaches the benefits of injury prevention and flexibility in their sport of choice. Each session will contain new and exciting ways to keep your child focused and having fun. Equipment used: ladders, plyo boxes, sleds and more! Certified personal trainers will be instructing.

Cost: $50 members/$100 non-members for 6 classes per session

Ages: 8-12

Y-Club Afterschool Program

The Y-Club Afterschool Program is a fun place to be with lots of positive staff interaction and learning opportunities. We provide a healthy afterschool snack, physical fitness time, homework help and a wide variety of other activities, including STEM and time to socialize with friends or play games.

Hours: School dismissal – 6:15 p.m.

Ages: Kindergarten – 8th grade

Weekly Cost: $45 members/$60 non-members

When there is a half day at school, we will still hold afterschool and pick up the children from school when they are dismissed. School in-service days and student holidays are included in regular weekly fees, except for holiday breaks (Winter Break and Spring Break) are registered and paid for separately.
