The YMCA of Columbia is excited to announce that Jim Vietti has been named Vice President of Operations and Development. He will oversee Operations at the Downtown YMCA and serve as the Head of Development for the YMCA of Columbia.
“Jim is the consummate professional that embraces The Y’s core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Faith. I have known Jim for the past four years and always hoped we could lure him back to South Carolina,” says YMCA of Columbia CEO Bill Price. “We are very fortunate to have a servant leader like him and we’re excited to welcome Jim and his wife Denise into our YMCA of Columbia family.”
Jim comes to us from the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA in Michigan where he served as CEO for the past four years. During his time there he oversaw the financial stewardship of the new Dow Bay Area Family YMCA, led the Y through a 6-month mandated shut down, and began the Mission Forward Campaign to ensure success after the pandemic.
“Jim has been a big part of the Dow Bay YMCA for a long time. He helped build the new YMCA that is a staple in our community, from promoting healthy living to feeding our community. Our Board wishes Jim the best of luck as he begins his new adventure in South Carolina,” states Tara Welch, Chief Volunteer Officer at the Dow Bay Area Family YMCA.
Prior to starting his career at the Y in 2009, Jim served in financial positions with Quebecor World Media and KPMG. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University with a degree in accounting and is looking forward to returning to South Carolina.
Jim’s first day at the Downtown Branch will be Monday, July 12.
