YMCA of Columbia Announces Jim Vietti as New CEO
With 14 years of YMCA experience, Vietti is committed to serving the Midlands.
Columbia, SC (January 4, 2024) – The YMCA of Columbia Board of Directors is thrilled to announce Jim Vietti as the YMCA of Columbia’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Vietti brings 14 years of YMCA leadership experience to the role, most recently having served as the VP of Operations at the Downtown YMCA and VP of Finance for the Association. Prior to coming to the YMCA of Columbia in July of 2021, he served as the CEO of the Dow Bay Area YMCA in Bay City, Michigan. Throughout his tenure with the YMCA, he has played key roles in the organization’s success, including overseeing the financing and construction of a new Dow Bay Area YMCA facility in 2011. Prior to joining the YMCA, Vietti held financial positions with Quebecor World Midland and KPMG.
“Jim’s extensive experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, coupled with his deep understanding of the YMCA’s mission and values, make him the ideal candidate to lead our organization into the future,” said YMCA of Columbia Board President Virginia McMaster. “We are confident that he will build upon our current momentum and chart a new course for growth and impact in the Midlands.”
Vietti is a graduate of Bob Jones University, where he earned a degree in accounting. He is passionate about youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and is committed to making the YMCA a vital force for good in the Midlands Community.

Vietti succeeds Bill Price, who retired from the YMCA of Columbia at the end of 2023. Price served as CEO for seven years,and during his tenure, he led the organization through a period of significant growth and expansion.
