Playful, engaging options are plentiful for young children while you exercise or connect with others over shared interests. Members with a community-wide family membership can enjoy up to two free hours of Childwatch at Ballentine Family YMCA, Jeep Rogers Family YMCA, NorthWest Family YMCA and Orangeburg County YMCA. Hours vary from branch to branch.
With a focus on safety, health, social growth and academic enhancement, Y afterschool programs serve kindergartners through middle schoolers with a variety of programmatic and activity options to explore and develop their interests and talents. Afterschool Care and All Day Out programs (on school holidays) are offered at Jeep Rogers Family YMCA, NorthWest Family YMCA, and select Richland One Schools.
The YMCA of Columbia camps offer a mix of fun and educational activities aimed at improving kids’ well-being. Our program centers on three areas proven to impact kids’ development: friendship, accomplishment and belonging. Through the Y’s day camp program, kids participate in fun and educational activities that help them grow. Summer Camp if offered at our Jeep Rogers and NorthWest Family YMCA locations. Camp is also offered through our Downtown Branch at select Richland One Elementary schools.
School Holiday Care
School’s Out Special is a fun-filled, full–day program offered on select holidays, teacher workdays and Spring Break. Children are not required to be enrolled in Y Afterschool or Day Camp programs in order to participate!
The Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina offers quality partial-day child care for preschoolers aged 2-4 years, enabling parents and family members to go to work knowing their children are in a safe, stimulating environment.
Homeschool Swim & Gym
The YMCA Home School Swim and Gym program is a great way to work physical activity, healthy living, socialization and play into your homeschool curriculum. The goal of swim and gym classes for students is to have planned individual and cooperative physical activity and fitness assessments promoting the students’ optimum physical, mental, emotional, and social development through a focus on swimming and sports.
