The YMCA of Columbia is giving back to those in need this Holiday Season! Several of our branch locations have selected a charity to champion.

Christmas Craft Event at the Orangeburg Y!

The Orangeburg County YMCA is hosting a Christmas Craft Event on Friday, Dec. 10 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  This is a great way to spend some fun family time this holiday season.

Artist Courtney Quarles (Mrs. Q) will lead you in creating up to three Christmas Ornaments.  We will provide all the materials, all you need to do is bring a little imagination and creativity.

The cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.  You’ll want to sign-up soon because space is limited.  Registration ends Dec. 6!

Swim Instructor Patrick Weekley Teaches Over 500 Private Swim Lessons in 3 Months!

YMCA Swim Instructor Patrick Weekley just turned 21 this month and has already made a bigger impact on the lives of kids than most people will in an entire lifetime!

While his peers were enjoying summer vacations, Patrick taught over 500 private swim lessons from June to August of this year.  Wow! On top of those 500 private lessons, he also taught group swim lessons to the 200 children in our Summer Camp.

PARENT’S DAY OUT = KID’S FUN DAY! 

Take some time to yourself while we watch the kids on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. They’ll enjoy games, crafts, music, physical activity, swimming and much more. Fee includes a Chick-fil-A dinner. And, don’t forget to pack the necessities such as swim gear for you child. 

FEE: $20 Members, $30 Nonmembers

Schedule:

  • Drop-off is at 1:00 pm in Childwatch.
  • Kids will be separated into age appropriate groups.

Lowe’s Red Vest Employees Help Jeep Roger’s Family YMCA Build Field of Dreams

The Jeep Rogers Family YMCA was thrilled to have Lowe’s Red Vest Employees onsite on Friday, Oct. 29 to take part in building our Field of Dreams. Lowe’s employees were able to put together six new picnic tables in 30 minutes!

The Jeep Rogers YMCA was awarded a significant grant this past July as part of Lowe’s 100 Hometowns, an initiative to celebrate Lowe’s Home Improvement’s centennial.

This grant has enabled the Jeep Y to install field drainage, fence in the field, and purchase new soccer goals. Plans have also been drawn to build a 30ft x 40ft Pavilion and are currently waiting County […]
