The generosity of others is at the core of our existence. When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change in your own community. As a volunteer, you’ll be working with other caring, committed people who want to make a difference.

How do I apply?

YMCA program volunteers undergo an interview and training process similar to that of paid staff. This helps you find the best fit for your skills while also ensuring the safety of our members, staff and other volunteers. Volunteer Leadership

At the YMCA of Columbia, we’re driven by a shared commitment to strengthen the foundations of our community. Our Association Board of Directors—made up of dedicated volunteers from across the Midlands—provides leadership and vision for our organization.

Each YMCA branch also has its own Advisory Council, composed of local volunteers who help guide branch priorities and support the work of the Executive Director. Together, these leaders ensure that the Y continues to grow, serve, and make a meaningful impact where it matters most—right here at home.
