YMCA receives land donation at Townlee Lane

LUGOFF, SC – The YMCA of Columbia is celebrating the gift of 12.79 acres (Townlee and Cameron Lane) in Lugoff, SC. The Y has been exploring advancing their mission (To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.) into Kershaw County since March 2017. Formal studies and community conversations continue to guide Y leadership in the future undertaking of programs and services, a capital campaign and major building project.

Ballentine YMCA opens Monday, March 16 and Ballentine Family Medicine opens Wednesday, April 8

Last year, Palmetto Health and the YMCA of Columbia announced their enhanced partnership focused on improving the health and wellness of residents across the Midlands region. The partnership makes a significant move forward next week as their first major joint project – a $6.8 million, 19,925 square-foot facility, which co-houses Ballentine Family YMCA and Ballentine Family Medicine – opens to the public. The YMCA of Columbia is commemorated its 100th year at 1420 Sumter Street in 2011. A series of events celebrated the impact the Y has made on the community. The first of these is the hanging of a collection of photographs and memorabilia that archive the history of the YMCA of Columbia.
